THE FIELD GUIDE

A little know-how. A better day out.

Choose the right kind of place

An off-leash dog park is a designated area. A pet-friendly trail may still require a leash. A dog park near the water does not automatically allow dogs on the beach.

Look for the boundaries

Keep your dog leashed outside designated off-leash areas and read the signs at the entrance. Use the official source on each listing to check rules and current notices.

Beach days need a closer look

Fort De Soto has a designated dog beach and fenced dog areas. Sand Key has a dog park; that does not make its beach a dog beach. Check the official sources for the permitted areas.

Know what is confirmed

We link official sources and show the date a listing was checked. Missing details remain unconfirmed. A listed park is not a real-time opening report. Ask the operator about accessibility, entrance conditions and facilities that matter for your visit.
